AIS People Management Workshop Series

My project focused on making AI safety managers more effective, which is increasingly important as the field scales and more individual contributors become managers. New managers in the field rarely get formal training. Most learn through trial and error, ad-hoc mentorship, or scrambling to find resources on their own.

To address that, I interviewed 10+ AI safety managers about the challenges they face and built a curriculum around the pain points they raised. My advisor, Max Dalton, and I then designed and piloted a workshop series for new and new-ish managers in AI safety, focused on running effective 1:1s, coaching, giving and receiving feedback, and delegating. The pilot was well received by participants, with strong demand for more sessions.
